Choosing the right area of Corfu
A practical, area-by-area guide to help you pick the right part of Corfu, whether you want town life, the north-east coast or quiet inland villages.
Corfu Town & around
The UNESCO-listed old town offers everyday amenities, restaurants and culture year-round. Best for buyers who want walkable city life and don't necessarily need a sea-front home.
Nearby suburbs like Kanoni, Garitsa and Perama combine town access with sea views.
The north-east coast (Kassiopi, Kalami, Nissaki)
Known as 'Kensington-on-Sea' for a reason, this stretch has the most prestigious villas, with crystal-clear water and views to Albania.
The most prestigious stretch of coast, and the most active rental market for premium villas.
The west coast (Paleokastritsa, Liapades, Agios Gordios)
Dramatic cliffs, sunsets and turquoise coves. A great mix of authenticity and tourism. Building plots and traditional houses are still relatively accessible here.
The south (Moraitika, Lefkimmi, Kavos)
The flattest part of the island, with the longest sandy beaches. Generally the most affordable area to buy in, with plenty of village houses and land.
Inland villages
If you're looking for a renovation project or a peaceful base, inland villages like Doukades, Agios Markos and Strinilas offer stone houses that are far more accessible than coastal alternatives.
